With two decades of experience in issues advocacy, media relations, and strategic planning, Nicolle advances the organization’s equity agenda by disseminating its work and message to various stakeholders nationwide, including policymakers, practitioners, advocates, parents and families, and students. Before joining Ed Trust, Nicolle was a communications manager for The Pew Charitable Trusts. She oversaw outreach efforts for the Kids’ Safe & Healthful Foods Project, a joint initiative between Pew and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Nicolle has also worked at D.C.-based public and media relations firms, Widmeyer Communications and The Caraway Group, serving nonprofit, government, and corporate clients. She has a Master of Arts from The University of Maryland, College Park, a Bachelor of Arts from Spelman College, and a Women in Leadership Certificate from Cornell University. She currently serves on the Community Advisory Board for the Education Writers Association. Nicolle is also on the advisory board for Aspire, an alliance of higher education organizations working towards increasing the diversity of STEM faculty nationwide. She lives in Maryland with her husband, two sons, and her beloved puppy.

Why are you passionate about working at Ed Trust?
My work makes a difference. I love that the communications work of Ed Trust not only shines a light on educational inequities that exist in our nation, but also promotes solutions that can improve the educational outcomes of our nation’s most underserved youth.
