Closing gaps in access and success, and making college affordable for all students, especially low-income students and students of color, will ensure a brighter economic future.

Dr. Freeman A. Hrabowski, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County; Dr. José Luis Cruz, provost and vice president of academic affairs at California State University – Fullerton; and Kati Haycock, president of The Education Trust share their thoughts on the incredible impact a college education can have for low-income students and students of color. All three emphasize that institutions of higher education need to do more to ensure greater access to and success in college.
