Press Release

WASHINGTON (June 8, 2012) — The Education Trust is proud to announce the addition of Mary Nguyen, higher education research and policy analyst, to our higher education team. Mary primarily manages the College Results Online portfolio, an interactive Web-based tool that provides facts on college graduation rates to students, parents, school counselors, policymakers, and researchers. She analyzes patterns in access and success rates, and highlights campus-level and system-based efforts that have made progress towards improving graduation rates.

“We are excited to work with Mary, as she has already proven herself as a talented researcher in the higher education field,” said José Cruz, The Education Trust’s vice president for higher education policy and practice. “Mary is a great asset to our team.”

Previously, Mary was a research assistant at Education Sector, where she studied issues related to college and career readiness, college access and completion, and competency-based higher education. While at Education Sector, Mary authored “Degreeless in Debt: What Happens to Borrowers Who Drop Out,” a brief that examines what happens to college students who took out large loans, but did not earn a degree.

Mary holds bachelor’s degrees in biology and linguistics from the University of Virginia, and a master’s in public policy, with a higher education concentration, from Johns Hopkins University.
