
Iyana leads media strategy, press outreach, and engagement for the Higher Education team. Before joining EdTrust, she served as press secretary for DC Public Schools and associate director of strategic communications at KABOOM! leading communications for their multi-partner national initiative to end playspace inequity.
Iyana holds a bachelor’s degree in business communication from Stevenson University, a master’s degree in organizational communications from Bowie State University, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

What drew you to education?
Education is the foundation of opportunity. Growing up, I saw firsthand how access to quality education — or lack thereof — can shape and change the trajectory of a person’s future.
Why are you passionate about working at EdTrust?
I’m passionate about centering and amplifying the voices of marginalized communities to help bridge opportunity gaps and drive awareness to the necessary policies needed to initiate change.
