Dr. Donna Seagle
Vice President for Academic Affairs
Walters State Community College
I have served as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Walters State Community College since 2019 and have taught Psychology and Education at community colleges for over 20 years. I am a School Psychologist and higher education educator/administrator with a PhD in Psychology. My primary research focus is in higher education curriculum and instructional programming and professional development. Before joining Walters State, I was an associate professor, served as Director of Faculty Instruction and Professional Development, and Founding Director of the Center for Academic Research and Excellence at Chattanooga State Community College. I served as the campus co-leader of Chattanooga State’s Achieving the Dream (ATD) and Focus on Completion projects.
Currently, I serve on TBR: The College System of TN statewide General Education Core Team and as chair of the TBR Vice-Presidents for Academic Affairs Sub-Council. I am an active member of AAC&U, ATD, CCRC, and the American Chestnut Foundation. Also, I am committed to educational equity in our state, and it is my honor to serve as a member of the Higher Education Policy Council at The Education Trust in Tennessee.
I believe it is imperative that educators recognize the importance of engaging all students with a variety of high-impact pedagogical and socio-academic activities that remove barriers to education and support quality teaching and learning across multiple modalities. My primary goal as an educator is to model the ability to reflectively and critically consider new perspectives, information, and practices that motivate others to engage in active learning, self-reflection, and unbiased consideration of other perspectives.
