P-12 Communications Manager
Kami has left The Education Trust for her next adventure. Though she is no longer at Ed Trust, we maintain this bio page as a thank you for all the wonderful work she contributed while with us.
In her role as communications manager, Kami Spicklemire works to advance the P-12 Education team’s mission by developing and implementing a comprehensive communications and outreach strategy.
Prior to joining Ed Trust, Kami worked at the Center for American Progress as a campaign manager for the K-12 education policy team, working to build a coalition of education organizations committed to modernizing and elevating the teaching profession. Before that, she was the development coordinator at an education nonprofit working to increase access to college and career opportunities for traditionally underserved students.
Kami holds a masters of public affairs —with concentrations in policy analysis and nonprofit management — and a bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Kami is an alumna of the Institute for Educational Leadership’s Education Policy Fellowship Program.
What’s your favorite thing to do outside of work?
I am an avid chef, a yoga teacher-in-training, and a proud dog mom.
Why are you passionate about working at Ed Trust?
Growing up in a diverse, lower-income public school district just outside of Indianapolis, I witnessed firsthand many of the educational inequities that the Education Trust has consistently sought to address. I strongly believe that all students deserve equitable access to an excellent education, and I am grateful to work alongside the passionate advocates at Ed Trust to bring that idea closer to reality.
