Legislative Affairs Assistant
Latasha has left The Education Trust for her next adventure. Though she is no longer at Ed Trust, we maintain this bio page as a record of the wonderful work she contributed while with us.
As a member of the legislative affairs team, Latasha tracks education-related federal legislation, collaborates with external organizations and stakeholders who share our mission, and advances Ed Trust’s goal of closing opportunity and achievement gaps through federal policy. Prior to joining The Education Trust, Latasha worked as a marketing assistant for the University of South Carolina’s study abroad office, where she expanded the organization’s mission to promote diversity in international learning. She is a first-generation college student, full Pell Grant recipient, and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and sociology from the University of South Carolina.
What are people most surprised to learn about you?
I’m a certified archery instructor.
Why are you passionate about working at Ed Trust?
I firmly believe that the public school education I received was instrumental to my success in life. Although I come from a low-income household, I was fortunate to attend school in a wealthy neighborhood. I’m passionate about the work I do here because I want ALL students, regardless of where they live and their family income, to have access to the same quality public K-12 education that I had. The American Dream can only become a reality when the quality of a child’s education is not determined by a zip code.
