Dr. Laura Ferguson-Mimms
I am a native Nashvillian who loves my family and my hometown. My professional career includes working as a certified Montessori teacher, serving as a principal and principal coach, a state-wide director for a national non-profit, a school improvement professional for Metro Nashville Public Schools, as well as the CEO of a charter school district. I currently work as the Executive Director at the Tennessee Higher Education Initiative in Nashville, Tennessee. I am an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and serve as the President of the Parthenon Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. I love that I have had the opportunity to attend one of the best HBCUs in the country, Fisk University, as well as Baylor University. My undergraduate and graduate degrees in English, as well as my graduate degree and doctorate in Educational Administration have all served me well, but what has served me best is remembering that success is not about the alphabet that precede or follow your name, and not even the amount of wealth and material possessions you accumulate, but living a life of substance and meaning so that when your days on Earth come to an end you have done what God created and redeemed you to do.
