Born in Honolulu, Hawaii and raised in Waldorf, Maryland, Marissa Brown holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is also a graduate from American University, where she received her Master’s in Public Administration & Policy. Marissa is an advocate for public service and has worked on communication, policy, and outreach in a variety of contexts from working at the White House, USAID, the Maryland State Senate, and more recently the Department of Homeland Security as a consultant. In her free time, she is a Girl Scout Leader, Children’s National Hospital volunteer, and Court Appointed Special Advocate for foster care youth. She enjoys volunteering, reading, listening to podcasts, and painting. Marissa currently lives in Maryland with her Yorkie, Marley.
