Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce
Samantha Perez is the Vice President of Education Initiatives with the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce. She leads the Chamber’s work in P-12 education, serving as the liaison to Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS), steering the Education Report Card Committee, and ensuring strong and ongoing business engagement in the Academies of Nashville. She is the co-chair of the Alignment Nashville Operating Board and serves on the steering committee for the Blueprint for Early Childhood Success, the NAZA Leadership Council, and the College, Career, and Technical Education Leadership Council for the Tennessee Department of Education. She has a deep interest in supporting the needs of immigrant and refugee families, previously serving as the co-chair of the Alignment Nashville Integration of International Families team and as a current mentor for the MNPS EL Fellowship program. She has been an Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives Education and Talent Development Fellow and is the current class for the Complete Tennessee Leadership Institute. Outside of work, Samantha enjoys a variety of opportunities to engage with the Nashville community, including serving as the president of Conexión Next – Conexión Américas’s young professional organization — and sitting on the PENCIL Emerging Leaders Board. She is also the proud board chair of L.E.T.S. Play, a Nashville-based non-profit that helps students of immigrant and refugee backgrounds build English skills through school and community-based soccer workshops. A San Francisco native, Samantha moved to Nashville in 2010 to pursue her graduate studies. She is a Sociology triple threat with a B.A. from the University of California at Santa Cruz and her Master’s and Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University.
