Unless Congress Acts, Stafford Loan Interest Rates Will Double this Summer
Unless Congress acts, a planned increase in the interest rate for federal student loans, set to take effect in July, will double to 6.8 percent. That would cost students who’ve borrowed the maximum Stafford loan an addition $4,800 over the 10-year repayment period.
