Jobs & Internships

Join us! EdTrust is an equity-driven, data-centered, and student-focused organization with the mission of dismantling the racial and economic barriers embedded in the American education system. And we want YOU to help make our mission a reality!

We believe that, at its core, education equity starts with building relationships and community — with advocates, educators, and policymakers joining forces to eliminate education injustices together. Currently, team members work from EdTrust offices in the following locations: our national headquarters in Washington, DC, California (Oakland or LA), Michigan, New York (or New Jersey), Tennessee (Nashville), Texas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, and Washington State. In some cases, we can offer stipends to offset the costs of relocation or home office set-up in locations where we do not have brick-and-mortar offices.

Explore our current job openings below and join our team of bright and dedicated champions for education equity.

Hiring Process

It’s important to us that candidates know what to expect before applying. While hiring processes may have some variation based on the role, a typical hiring process at EdTrust follows this general cadence:

Our People & Culture

EdTrust is a mission-oriented nonprofit committed to advancing policies and practices to dismantle the racial and economic barriers embedded in the American education system. Through our research and advocacy, EdTrust improves equity in education from preschool through college, engages diverse communities dedicated to education equity and justice, and increases political and public will to build an education system where students
will thrive.

At EdTrust, you’ll work shoulder to shoulder with colleagues who share your core beliefs, which align with ours:

We believe in the power of education to close the opportunity gaps that separate students of color and students from low-income backgrounds from their White, wealthier peers.

We believe that schools and colleges, when appropriately organized and funded, can help all students achieve excellence in safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments.

We believe that long-standing gaps in opportunity, achievement, and attainment are systemic both inside and outside of schools — but with enough effort and public will, education equity can be achieved.

We believe that a strong education improves the lives of young people, is vital to sustaining our democracy, and strengthens America in a global economy.

EdTrusters Say They Joined EdTrust Because…

Meet Our Team

“The mission and that it’s unapologetically about racial justice.”

“The value that EdTrust brings to the education world through our research. EdTrust was always my gold star of where to hopefully one day work.”

Our Benefits & Total Rewards

EdTrust invests in team members through three types of rewards: compensation, benefits, and intangibles, collectively referred to as “total rewards.” Our total rewards package includes competitive, equitable pay and prioritizes the health and well-being of employees. We offer eligible employees the following:

Competitive & Equitable Base Pay

Our pay reflects our compensation philosophy of market competitiveness and pay equity. All candidates receive a first/best offer in line with our market for talent and geography, and that honors their skillsets and experiences while staying in line with salaries of current EdTrusters. Pay bands are intentionally broad enough to allow for salary growth without requiring a job or title change because we believe in recognizing the value of your growth and impact in the role that you’re in.

Health Insurance

100% coverage of medical, dental and vision premiums for employees and significant coverage for spouses, domestic partners, and dependents

Paid Time Off

At least 30 days of paid time off annually for vacation and holidays. This includes two, weeklong, org-wide, synchronous paid breaks for rest and renewal — one in summer and one in winter. To honor the range of EdTrusters’ needs, we also provide four personal days each year.

Retirement Savings

An automatic 4% contribution into your retirement account and up to a 3% match. This can add up to a 7% employer contribution annually!

Paid Parental Leave

5 weeks of fully paid parental leave for birth, adoption, or foster care placement — no “wait time” required after date of hire.

Flexibility

Our hybrid work schedule allows EdTrusters to enjoy more flexibility and minimize commutes.

Pre-Tax Accounts

EdTrusters can put money toward the following pre-tax benefits: medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums; Flexible Spending Accounts for medical and dependent care, health savings accounts, and public transit.

Peace of Mind

EdTrust covers the cost of basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, and AD&D insurance. EdTrusters have the option to purchase additional life insurance and short-term disability insurance with our carriers.

Growth & Development

We value each EdTruster’s professional growth and, through our Professional Development Stipend program, provide $1,000 per employee to put toward individualized development needs each year.

Network & Relationship Building

An emphasis on ongoing internal collaboration and relationship-building, like through an annual org-wide retreat, gives EdTrusters the opportunity to connect and build relationships with one another. External conferences and meetings provide opportunities to grow networks and relationships with other education equity organizations and like-minded advocates outside of EdTrust.
