EdTrust reached out to Measure for guidance on how to implement a community-led approach to evaluating and addressing challenges with Dallas Independent School District’s (Dallas ISD) disciplinary practices.

The CARE team identified the following problem: The community-led vision of the Reset Center is to provide restorative support to students as an alternative to punitive discipline, but the lack of resources and trained staff have prevented the safe and supportive learning environment promised to all students and educators and has, in turn, reinforced systemic racism that perpetuates racialized harm disproportionately toward Black students.
