Mirvais “Mir” Aminy

Justice Fellows Advisory Board

Mirvais “Mir” Aminy is a dedicated student affairs professional with extensive experience supporting diverse and underserved populations. Currently, he serves as the program director for California State University Fullerton’s Project Rebound, where he oversees daily operations, mentors staff, and fosters partnerships to enhance student success.

An Afghan immigrant to the U.S., Mir draws on his lived experiences to inform his work and advocate for equitable opportunities. He has utilized higher education as a transformative pathway, overcoming systemic challenges to achieve personal growth and champion access and inclusion for marginalized communities. Mir is pursuing a Ph.D. in education with a concentration in disability studies at Chapman University and holds a Master of Science in counseling from California State University, Long Beach, and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from California State University, Fullerton.

As a member of the third cohort of the Justice Fellows Policy Program, Mir gained invaluable insight into addressing systemic inequities in education and policy. This experience has strengthened his commitment to dismantling barriers and advancing equitable opportunities for all. He is honored to contribute this perspective as a member of the advisory board in selecting the next cohort of Justice Fellows.

Mir has also worked extensively with youth from underserved communities demonstrating his commitment to fostering growth and resilience in those facing systemic challenges. Additionally, he is a Health Policy Research fellow with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, housed at Johns Hopkins University, where he explores innovative solutions to advance equity in public health and education.

Through his professional and personal journey, Mir continues to advocate for equity, inclusion, and transformative practices that empower individuals and communities alike.
