Ramieka Robinson has nearly eight years of experience in higher education, policy development, and reentry initiatives. As the director of continuing education and professional advancement for the Goucher Prison Education Partnership (GPEP) at Goucher College, she leads post-release support efforts, creating programs and partnerships to help formerly incarcerated students succeed in education and careers. She supports career development, education access, reentry services, and addressing the unique challenges of first-generation, low-income, and marginalized individuals. Her work starts pre-release, guiding students through transition planning, and continues post-release, ensuring they have access to community support and career pathways.
Building on her leadership in reentry education, Ramieka was appointed by the Governor of Maryland to serve on the Prison Education Delivery Reform Commission, where she works to improve correctional education statewide. Her commitment to expanding educational opportunities for current and formerly incarcerated individuals is further reflected in her participation in the 2019 Second Chance Pell Listening Session with the Vera Institute of Justice and the U.S. Department of Education. There, she contributed to discussions on postsecondary education access for incarcerated individuals and advocated for equitable education policies to enhance learning opportunities behind bars.
In addition to her statewide policy work, Ramieka serves on the Maryland Department of Public Safety’s Lived Experience Committee, where she offers policy recommendations informed by her firsthand experience. Through this role, she works to enhance educational opportunities and reentry support for justice-impacted individuals, ensuring their voices and needs are represented in policy discussions.
Through her multifaceted leadership, Ramieka continues to drive change at the intersection of education, reentry support, and policy reform. She remains committed to ensuring justice-impacted individuals have access to the resources, skills, and opportunities needed for success pre- and post-release. Her leadership is guided by a dedication to transforming lives through education, advocating for systemic change, and creating pathways for success for underserved communities.
