Tia is the Senior Accounting Manager, reporting to the CFO. In this crucial role, she leads a dedicated team of two accounting associates responsible for managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, accounting systems, and the general ledger. Her responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the finance team, coordinating monthly general ledger close, handling ad hoc internal and external reporting, managing audits, and other essential duties.
Prior to joining EdTrust, Tia made significant contributions at YPTC, a respected national accounting consulting firm. Her work involved supporting various nonprofit organizations with financial reporting, day-to-day operations, system implementations, and ensuring compliance with GAAP material standards. Tia’s extensive experience in various accounting roles within nonprofit organizations has equipped her to handle complex global transaction processes, establish robust policies and procedures for internal controls, develop metrics for tracking organizational resources, develop organization and departmental budgets, and lead and support audits to help secure unmodified opinions.
She holds degrees from American Intercontinental University and Howard University, including master’s degrees in accountancy and business administration and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and economics.

What’s your favorite thing to do outside of work?
I enjoy good food whether I’ve cooked a masterpiece or tried a new restaurant (or old faithful restaurant). I love to travel locally or internationally, I love to learn about different cultures, languages, and people. I enjoy spending time with family and close friends whether it’s catching up over lunch/happy hour, bowling, basketball, tennis, golf, or soccer.
