The United States has about 3.7 million teachers in roughly 100,000 schools, and more than 13,000 school districts. Our education system is very decentralized, and it’s frankly hard to know what exactly teachers are teaching in every classroom around the nation. However, panelists agreed that by and large teachers more or less represent the views of their communities.
