We will host a workshop in collaboration with ExpandED Schools to share findings from a recent report on how to support afterschool workers to become teachers. Many afterschool workers are from communities of color and have extensive experience working with young people of color. We will first discuss the skills that afterschool workers bring to the profession. Then, we will discuss some of the practices that can support afterschool workers’ success in teacher preparation programs. Finally, we will share what advocates can ask states to do to support this pipeline of effective teachers of color.
