At EdTrust-Midwest, we have a core belief that serves as our north star: All Michigan students can reach their full academic potential if they have access to a high-quality education, learning from effective educators in safe, nurturing classrooms. We envision public schools that are well-resourced and accountable to the communities they serve, where parents and schools work side-by-side to help all students succeed. We pursue this vision by partnering with communities and advocates, providing in-depth analysis, evidence-based research and policy solutions, and offering expert guidance to shape policies and practices that expand opportunity, access, and success for all learners. Together, we are driving change and creating the conditions where every student thrives.

Our Mission

EdTrust-Midwest is committed to advancing policies and practices to dismantle the racial and economic barriers embedded in the American education system, particularly for Black and Latino students, English learners, students with disabilities, and students from low-income backgrounds across the state. Through our research and advocacy, EdTrust-Midwest improves equity in education from preschool through college, engages diverse communities dedicated to education equity and justice, and increases political and public will to build an education system where all students flourish
