Join The Education Trust’s Zahava Stadler for a tutorial on FundEd, a national database of all states’ K-12 school funding policies. In this session, reporters will learn how to uncover the school funding policy that underlies so many education stories—whether they are specifically about school finance or not. The database provides 50-state information and interactive comparison tools covering the core areas of school funding policy, including the role played by local tax dollars; state support for groups of students including those from low-income backgrounds, those learning English, and those with disabilities; and consideration of community characteristics including rurality and concentrated poverty. FundEd was created by the school finance organization EdBuild and its policy content was recently updated by the EdTrust team.
