EdTrust–West is committed to dismantling the racial and economic barriers embedded in the California education system. On September 20, 2022, Summer House Institute fellow Brandon Jenkins testified at a joint hearing of the Texas House Committees on Public Education and Higher Education. An aspiring Black male educator, Brandon offered concrete policy recommendations to improve the teacher workforce based on his pathway to certification as a paid paraprofessional working in the elementary school he attended as a child.
