EdTrust has a bold vision of what our country’s education system should look like. We envision a nation where education is a priority, and our collective goal is to ensure every student — regardless of race, identity, or economic background — can achieve excellence.

With enough advocacy and political will, together, we can create a system that boasts a high-quality education for all students and promotes student excellence. That means recognizing the limitless potential of traditionally underserved students – students of color and students from low-income backgrounds – so they can pursue the life of their choosing. To truly dismantle the racial and economic barriers embedded in our education system, we as advocates must be bold, speak out, and create change so that opportunities are not lost, and students have everything to gain. Let’s move forward boldly to envision and advocate for an ideal education system where all students can achieve excellence.

Imagine a nation where…

  • The quality of a school was not determined by zip code, race, gender or identity
  • Every student attended a school that was fairly funded to get the resources and supports they need to succeed
  • Every student had access to high-quality teachers and faculty from diverse backgrounds
  • Every student had access to a rigorous and culturally representative curriculum
  • Every student could read proficiently by the fourth grade
  • Every student felt safe and supported in school and college
  • Every student felt free to be their authentic selves
  • No child had to learn while hungry
  • Every school and college had mental health professionals and support
  • Librarians could offer books that represent a wide diversity of race and identities without repercussions
  • Every student who wanted to pursue a college degree could afford to enroll
  • Every college student attends a college or university where they feel seen and supported on campus
  • Every student was prepared to live the life of their choosing
  • There was no such thing as student debt
  • Federal and state leaders created policies and practices to advance learning for all students
