EdTrust Statement: On Independence Day, Trump Signs Away the American Dream

“Today, on the very day our nation celebrates freedom and opportunity, President Trump signed into law a bill that does the exact opposite. It robs millions of Americans of both. The so-called ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ is nothing short of the Great American Heist — a cruel, calculated effort to strip students and working families of education, healthcare, and economic mobility. Curbing aid for students and borrowers, dismantling SNAP and Medicaid, and handing public dollars to private schools isn’t patriotic; it’s un-American. We, as advocates, will not rest until every student has the freedom to learn, the power to succeed, and a fair shot at the American Dream.”
