Andrea Ramirez
Communications Manager, Partnerships & Engagement
Andrea serves as the communications manager for the Partnerships and Engagement team, where she liaises with the various state offices to achieve their policy and messaging goals.
Prior to joining Ed Trust, Andrea worked as a communications liaison and public policy fellow with the Office of Regional Operations in the Administration for Children and Families within the U.S Department of Health and Human Services. In addition, Andrea has taken part in several education policy and advocacy fellowships with Teach PLUS and Leadership for Educational Equity (LEE).
Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, Andrea is the proud daughter of Mexican immigrant parents. Andrea has a bachelor’s degree in Youth and Community Studies from The University of Texas at Austin. Afterwar graduating, she returned to her hometown, where she taught middle school math at Tafolla Middle School for five years. During her time teaching, she was a community organizer with San Antonio Rising in Solidarity for Education (SA RISE), advocating for local and state educational issues. While teaching, she earned her master’s in educational leadership and policy from The University of Texas- San Antonio.

What’s your favorite thing to do outside of work?
I love long-distance running, traveling, exploring new eats, and visiting a good coffee shop.
Why are you passionate about working at Ed Trust?
When I think of my WHY, I always think back to my students and my time in the classroom. I have an opportunity here to continue the fight for educational equity and lift the voices of teachers and students who are experiencing the day to day in the classroom; they are the heartbeat of education.
