Trey S. Cunningham is a native of Brownsville, Tennessee, where his passion for community and desire for creating a more equitable and fairer environment for all was born. As a public school student, he served as the vice president of leadership for Distributive Education Clubs of America, a four-year ranked captain and director of student communications for his JROTC Unit, and Class Treasurer. Now, at the collegiate level, he serves as the board chairman for the Freshman Innovation Council, Tennessee State University’s official freshman training authority for leadership, Career Development Task Force member, and the current re-organizing chair for his college NAACP chapter.

In his community, Trey serves as a member of TN NAACP as student member, a Haywood County NAACP Youth Council chapter member, and more. He serves in the capacities of a P-12 Policy council member, and EmpowerED Student Voice Network member for The Education Trust in Tennessee.

From these experiences, he has learned the value of hard work, efficiency, and communication. In the future, he hopes to continue to stand on the shoulders of giants and make them proud. Trey spends his spare time with family and friends, advocating for change, and reading. He is currently enrolled at Tennessee State University, where he majors in Healthcare Administration & Planning.
