Deysi Casarrubias

Deysi Casarrubias is a wife and mother of two boys (11 and 6) and a daughter (2). Born in Mexico, her parents came to the United States when she was a child. Because she personally endured challenges in school growing up, she knew when she became a mom she did not want her kids to struggle like she did. Deysi first became involved in her son’s school by volunteering with the Parents Association at PS49 in the South Bronx. In 2017 she joined the School Leadership Team working alongside the Principal and other members of the school community to plan events and fundraisers. She also worked as a group leader in an after-school program at PS49. That year she participated in various trainings and professional development workshops to increase her knowledge and sharpen her skills. Deysi has always enjoyed working with children and families in her community.
