Kim Drummond

Kim Drummond has more than 18 years experience leading communications, outreach and engagement initiatives in Kentucky’s public and private sectors. She has focused on strategic communications and marketing in the education sector through her work at the Chronicle of Higher Education, the University of Kentucky Office of the President, and the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education. Prior to joining the Prichard Committee team in June 2018, she served as Director of Strategic Initiatives for GEAR UP Kentucky, a $48 million, six-year statewide grant project focused on helping more than 12,000 low-income middle and high school students and their families prepare, apply and pay for college. She has delivered presentations and training workshops at national and state conferences, advocated for education-related funding on Capitol Hill, and facilitated strategic planning processes for multiple groups and organizations. Kim is passionate about equitable access to quality education for all students and is always seeking new ways to use information design and digital media to communicate complex ideas in simple, accessible ways. A native and current resident of Lexington and a mother of two school-age children, Kim holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Kentucky and has completed post-graduate work in communications at Morehead State University.
