Miea Walker

Miea Walker is a criminal justice advocate and prison abolitionist whose passion is addressing the intersectionality of race, class, gender and reentry for incarcerated men and women. Miea is a 2019 JLUSA fellow and 2019 NASW Myra Mellon’s Advocacy recipient, dedicated to the community and fighting for the freedom of incarcerated individuals. In 2015, she received her master’s degree in Social Work from North Carolina State University. Previously, Miea served as the criminal justice manager of the Policy and Advocacy Division of Forward Justice. Additionally, Miea serves on North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper’s Reentry Taskforce – and created the Women and Incarceration working group to increase awareness and provide support regarding issues that are specific to women and children.
