Sarah Mehrotra, Ed.M.
P-12 Data and Policy Analyst
As a data and policy analyst on the P-12 policy team, Sarah Mehrotra is focused on school accountability and teacher equity. Before joining Ed Trust, Sarah was a research associate at the Center for Education Research and Innovation at SRI International, a nonprofit research organization. There, she served as deputy project manager for the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Appalachia, a federal-funded Institute of Educational Sciences program, and managed a variety of technical assistance, research, and dissemination projects serving five states in the Appalachian region. She also recently served as a legislative fellow in the Office of U.S. Congressman Jim Himes, working primarily on education, housing, and workforce policy initiatives.
In 2015, Sarah was awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Gopeng, Malaysia, where she taught English as a second language and created a young women’s empowerment group. After returning to the U.S., she worked at the National Association of Advanced Teacher education, where she supported teacher professional development programs and led an operations team.
Sarah holds a master’s degree in education policy and management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a bachelor of arts degree in neuroscience from Hamilton College.

What drew you to education?
Growing up, I watched my mom, a special education teacher, fight tirelessly to ensure her students had access to a quality education. Seeing her advocate for resources and tools inspired me to explore the deep and systematic inequities in our education system and work every day to ensure all students are afforded a quality education.
