Tyrone Walker is a juvenile lifer who was released in 2018, after serving nearly 25 years of imprisonment. Today, Tyrone is an associate at the Justice Policy Institute (JPI), where he uses his lived experiences and subject matter expertise to effect policy. Being a voice for change to over 2 million incarcerated people who have become voiceless due to serving draconian prison sentences throughout the United States is his call to action. He has appeared on radio shows, national television, written op-eds, and public speaking. Tyrone has taken a personal interest in mentoring emerging adults. He believes that guiding our next generation away from the school-to-prison pipeline is a must. When he is not working, he is taking classes online to earn his BA.
