“Immigrant families are fighting every day to contribute to our country’s prosperity. Today’s action to deny them access to basic needs is shameful and will put individuals, already living in constant fear, at even greater risk. Medicaid, SNAP and housing assistance are all engines of social mobility. This administration’s cruel effort to use these benefits as grounds for deportation means that countless students will face the trauma of family separation, illness, hunger, and homelessness.
