Adam Lay

Justice Fellow

Adam’s mission is to reduce barriers to education and employment for formerly incarcerated individuals; he discovered this passion and purpose through his own incarceration and reentry process. While incarcerated, Adam set himself on a path to grow intellectually, characteristically, and spiritually, and despite limited opportunities due to funding, he managed to achieve four college degrees — finishing over 160 hours of coursework with a 3.9 GPA. After completing all the college courses he was eligible for, he set out to help others by becoming a college tutor and achieved numerous certificates in character development and behavior modification courses.

Upon his release in 2020, he immediately began advocating for other recently released individuals by hosting a weekly zoom meeting with another colleague. Adam also volunteers his time with his community and church fellowship organizations. Adam’s goal is to make a difference by helping formerly incarcerated people achieve their education and employment goals.
